WEDNESDAY WORKSHOP 21 MARCH: NATURAL DYEING

Held by Sylvia Wozniak. She is a graduate student at the Rietveld academie, from the Textile Department

Introduction for the natural dyeing workshop.

Natural dyeing is a more than a few thousand year old method to dye textile by using natural resources, especially plants. This process takes normally one or two days of work, so this evening we will start with an introduction. During the evening I will tell you a few interesting stories about plants and natural dyes and the history of their use. I will show you the plants and fibers which I’m working with and I’ll explain the whole process of dyeing. After this lecture we can make a plan for a longer workshop, which will take place in April, or May.
