Descriptions of the documentaries at Valreep are below. The program is on the Bajesdorp website

19.30 Revolutionary Art

By Merel Remkes. Netherlands, 2011. 10 min. English, Arabic.

This documentary follows art and artists in Egypt during the recent revolution.

The screening will be presented by the director.

20.00 “Ik ga dood om jullie hoofd”

By Cindy Kersenbom. Netherlands, 2010. 73min. Dutch, Sranantongo.

21.30 Creativity and the Capitalist City, the struggle for affordable space in Amsterdam

By Tino Buchholz. Netherlands, 2011. English, Dutch.

Creativity is fancy, glamorous and desirable. Who can be against creativity? At the same time it is used selectively for economic purposes and consists of precarious and hard work. In this film, the search for creativity is linked to existential struggles for affordable housing and working space in Amsterdam, such as temporary accommodation, squatting, anti-squatting and some institutional synthesis: “breeding”

The screening will be presented by the director.
