Woensdag 13 juni, 20.00 uur, Op de ValreepLETS: Creëer je eigen ‘geld’!
In deze tijden van crisis kunnen we wel een alternatief voor geld gebruiken. Matu introduceert ons in het LETS netwerk (Local Exchange Trading System) waar je, door te ruilen, op een eerlijke manier aan eten, produkten en diensten kan komen.
LETS zijn lokale, non-profit ruilnetwerken waar goederen en diensten met elkaar geruild kunnen worden met lokaal gecreeerde LETS Credits.
Matu is 15 jaar lid van een Amsterdamse LETS netwerk en heeft een duidelijke visie hoe LETS kan bijdragen tot extra inkomsten, meer welvaart en het creëren van lokale sociale netwerken.

In these times of crisis we can all use an alternative to money. Matu Moningka will introduce us to the LETS network (Local exchange trading systems), where you are able to ‘buy’ or exchange veggies, products and services in a fair way!
LETS are locally initiated and non-profit networks, where members exchange goods and services by using the currency of locally created LETS Credits.
Matu has been a member of the Amsterdam LETS network for 15 years and has a clear vision how LETS can contribute to earning extra income, generating more wealth and to create local social networks.

Woensdag 6 juni, 18.00 uur, Op de Valreep
Boogie woogie en Lindy hop dance class
Leer de Boogie-woogie and Lindy hop te dansen met Barbora Palesova. Het zijn swing dansen uit de eerste helft van de vorige eeuw. De muziek waarop de boogie en lindy hop wordt gedanst is gewoon geweldig en liefhebbers van oude Amerikaanse films zoals ‘Hellzapoppin’ of ‘A day at the Races’ kunnen hier helemaal los op!
Beide dansen worden gedanst door koppels, maar omdat dit een beginners workshop is, zullen we vooral de basis leren van deze dansen en is een danspartner niet nodig (maar wel welkom natuurlijk!)
Barbora was een acrobatische rock ‘n roll danser (won diverse wereld of europese wedstrijden) en heeft voor ongeveer een jaar boogie-woogie gedanst, die volgens haar veel creatiever en leuker is! Ze stopte met wedstrijddansen en begon te dansen voor het dance / productiebedrijf Extravadansa.

Boogie Woogie and Lindy Hop dance class.
Barbora Palesova will teach boogie-woogie and lindy hop, which are types of swing dance originated in the first half of the last century. They are both danced in couples, but as this is a beginners workshop we will learn the basics, in which no partners are necessary (but greatly welcomed!). The music that boogie and lindy hop is danced on is simply great and I am sure that all lovers of the old American movies such as ‘Hellzapoppin’ or ‘A day at the Races’ will be happy to swing by and swing with us.
Barbora was an acrobatic rock’n'roll dancer (won several world or european competitions) and later for a year or so did boogie-woogie which was according to her so much more creative and fun! She stopped with competitive dancing and started to dance for a dance/production company Extravadansa.

What are the stars? How far away are they? How are they born, grow up and die? What is a white dwarf, a neutron star, a black hole and a supernova explosion? How was the universe created and evolved and how did we appear? The astrophysicist Alexandros Chiotellis will attempt to answer these questions, and many others, presenting a short trip to the neighborhoods of the universe.

A party for our bellies! Feel like cooking and experimenting with food? Learn from each other, drink together, and feast on the results! Make pizza’s in the pizza oven outside, cook on rocket stoves, fry delicious food on the BBQ and create crazy desserts.
Herbert, Baaf, Arne and others are going to make delicious food! Join! Bring some food with you to prepare or enjoy the cooking skills of others.

Herbert, Baaf, Arne en anderen komen geniale dingen koken! Neem zelf dingen mee om klaar te maken, of geniet van kookkunsten van anderen.

Like to build a window garden, use graffiti moss, wanna draw, saw or knit? Bring your own craft project to the Valreep or choose one of our craft projects to work on! We can give you a hand and, of course, a drink to inspire you!
Our crafts projects this week: Window garden and Bird house
Make a Window Garden: a vertical, growing system made from plastic bottles that allows for year-round growing in almost any window. It lets plants use natural window light, the climate control of your living space and is hydroponic without electricity. Please take 3 to 4 bottles with you (we have a limited amount of bottles)
Build a Bird House: give the birds a house this month 
You can hang it on your balcony, wall or garden, or at the Valreep!

Crea workshop: Woensdag 9 mei, 8 uur, Op de Valreep
Maak een raamtuin, spuit graffiti mos, teken, naai, brei! Breng je eigen crea-project mee naar de Valreep of kies een project van ons om aan te werken! Een helpende hand en een biertje staan klaar!
Onze crea-projecten deze week: Raamtuin en Vogelhuisje
Maak een Raamtuin: een verticaal teeltsysteem gemaakt van plastic flessen die het mogelijk maakt het hele jaar door planten te laten groeien in je raam. De planten maken zo gebruik van natuurlijke venster licht, de klimaatbeheersing van je leefruimte en heeft een hydrocultuur zonder elektriciteit. Neem alsjeblieft 3 of 4 flessen mee (we hebben een beperkt aantal flessen)
Bouw een Vogelhuisje: geef de vogels een huisje deze maand! Je kan het hangen op je balkon, aan de muur of in de tuin, of op de Valreep!
Workshop Indoor gardening with hydroponics!

Grow your own herbs and veggies at home using basic hydroponics with clay beads!
Using hydroponics, it’s easy to grow lots of edible plants in very small spaces all year round. Hydroponic gardening uses no soil; rather, plant roots are suspended in specially formulated clay pellets and bathed with liquid nutrients.
Herbert Curiel will also explain different ways of seeding and germination.
We will make a bottle construction in which you can grow plants using basic hydroponics with clay beads. And we will start a germination process in eggshells.
Workshop tuinieren in huis!
Woensdag 25 April, 20.00 uur, Op de Valreep

Verbouw je eigen kruiden en groenten binnen in huis met een hydrocultuur van kleikorrels!
Met deze hydrocultuur groei je op een gemakkelijke manier planten het hele jaar door in kleine ruimtes. Je gebruikt geen aarde, de plantenwortels worden omsloten door de kleikorrels en overgoten met vloeibare voedingsstoffen.
Herbert Curiel legt ook verschillende manieren van zaaien en ontkiemen van plantjes uit.
We maken een flessenconstructie waar je planten in kan laten groeien door een hydrocultuur op te zetten met klei korrels. Ook beginnen we met het zaden ontkiem proces in eierdopjes.

Welke vogel is dat?!
Vogelaar Frank van Groen zal ons vertellen over de vogels die nu te vinden zijn in Amsterdam. Waaraan kan je ze herkennen? Waarom zijn sommigen aan het uitsterven? Op het einde maken we wat vogelhuisjes die je in je tuin of op balkon kan hangen voor de nieuwe generatie!

Birdwatcher Frank van Groen will tell us all about the birds in Amsterdam. How do you recognize them or their sound? And why are some of them almost extinct? We will make also some birdhouses to host new birds in your garden.
